When severe scale deposits began disrupting production across a North African gas field, field observations and conventional predictions pointed to different conclusions. This case study shows how OLI Studio: ScaleChem combined thermodynamic and kinetic modelling to resolve the discrepancy, revealing where scale was actually forming and why it accumulated at the choke. The resulting analysis gave the operator a clearer understanding of scale risk and where mitigation efforts would have the greatest impact.
