Webinar – Advancing corrosion prediction: Enhancing accuracy with the new MSE corrosion framework

Corrosion poses significant challenges to structural integrity and material longevity, leading to substantial economic losses and safety risks. Effective prediction and management of corrosion are essential to prevent catastrophic failure and increase asset integrity. To establish a reliable predictive methodology, it is necessary to quantitatively characterize corrosion and relate it to the properties of the corrosive environment. This talk introduces the Mixed-Solvent Electrolyte (MSE) corrosion model, a sophisticated tool that integrates the comprehensive MSE thermodynamic framework with an advanced electrochemical kinetic module to enhance corrosion prediction.

The MSE model’s strength lies in its ability to handle complex chemistries and varying environmental factors, making it suitable for a wide range of corrosive systems. Combined with the electrochemical module, it is capable of accurately modeling active dissolution, the active-passive transition and the effect of solution species on passivity. This seminar will explore the theory behind the model, compare its performance with experimental data, and illustrate its predictive capability.
